"I majored in college in Business Administration, with my major area of study in math. My SAT high school math score was 719, and I maintained a 4.0 grade point average in all math subjects throughout college. I have 12 years computer programmer/analyst experience with the University of North Carolina and in the banking industry. My wife and I homeschooled our 2 sons from 4th grade through their high school graduations, and I was their math and science teacher. During this time, I substitute taught in elementary, middle and high school levels.
I have over 1,300 hours of experience tutoring students in math with a different on-line tutoring service. For the past 18 months, 2021-2022, I have been tutoring math online weekly, with 18-21 students, one-on-one. These students are in elementary, middle and high school. Also, I have tutored students for their GED tests. I have a 5 star rating with parents and students, with recommendations available.
My goals for tutoring students are to bring confidence and success to them in math achievement, so they can see visible improvement in their homework, grades and test scores. I assess each student for their current level in math, and look for any areas where they lack understanding, or have difficulty with math operations and concepts. Through showing them practical application in math solving and creative learning, I tailor the current lesson to each student's personal needs. After I teach students how to solve the problems, they are asked to solve similar ones. This is to make certain that they comprehend the operation and are capable of solving it on their own. This enables them to succeed and discover that math can be fun to learn!" less...
