Hello, my name is Laleh. Growing up in Northern Virginia, I always excelled in math and constantly shared my expertise with other students that were not quite as adept in the subject. Throughout my undergraduate degree and subsequent Masters degree at GMU, I continued to tutor my peers in science as well as math and found that I truly had a penchant for explaining difficult concepts in a way that people could understand. With many of the students that I helped, math quickly became not only their best subject, but their favorite one as well.

Although I can and have tutored students all the way through advanced subjects, including Organic Chemistry and Calculus, I firmly believe that a thorough understanding of advanced mathematics and scientific concepts begins with a mastery of the basics. Therefore, my focus is on teaching Mental Math techniques (including Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division), Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, and more. Teaching children how to perform basic math mentally negates the need for calculators and allows for better comprehension of advanced concepts. I tutor in my home in Burke, VA.
