"Welcome learners! I enjoy tutoring because I get to help a student through a problem while also strengthening my own knowledge of the subject. Explaining concepts to others requires me to think critically, break down ideas into simpler terms, and approach problems from different perspectives. Seeing a student progress and gain confidence in their abilities is incredibly rewarding, and it motivates me to continue refining my teaching skills.

I am at Wesleyan University, as a sophomore majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. I am part of the Math Workshop at Wesleyan, where I tutor my peers twice a week for 3 hours. I tutor in Algebra, Calculus, Discrete Math, and many other math subjects. I sit at a table, and students come up to me with any questions they have. When I don't fully recall a topic or am a little fuzzy on it, I go through the problem with the student, as if I were doing it myself. I look back at the textbook, noting any relevant definitions and write those down. Then, from there I ask the student questions to see their base of understanding. Then, I try my best to ask questions that lead to the final answer, and usually the student has an "aha" moment and is able to finish the problem from there.
