"My name is Abhinav Vetcha and I am a second-year medical student at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. I did my undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 2022 with a bachelor's in biomedical engineering. I have around 10 years of teaching experience with various groups of students.

Through Trinity River Mission, I volunteered to tutor economically disadvantaged students in algebra and geometry. I was able to tutor them long-term and adapt my teaching style to their strengths, and I saw them improve on exams and overall in school as well. I also taught chemistry as a teaching assistant at UT Austin, where I studied the material and set up review sessions with groups of students. Although they were at different levels of understanding, I was able to determine what each student was struggling with and draw out the processes on a whiteboard so they could understand how to solve the problems on their own. I also started a beginner's programming class for middle school students in my community. I had to plan out the material for every week, create engaging slideshows, and come up with practice problems and projects. My students were excited to join class every week and by the end of the class, they were making their own games.

I am a great tutor because I am able to adapt to different students and their learning styles and explain things in a way that each student can understand. I also like to explain the concepts behind questions instead of just giving the answers and test my students with practice problems so that I know they are understanding how to do things. I am willing to commit to my students long-term and do anything I can to help them succeed. I have a lot of availability in the evenings on weekdays and all day on weekends and I am willing to drive to meet local students or tutor online as well. I scored 1550 on the SAT and a 521 on the MCAT, so I am well qualified and passionate about teaching those two exams, as well as other high school and middle school science and math." less...
