"Hi, I'm Shari! I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and am teacher certified, K-6. With both of my parents being teachers, I grew up with a deep love for learning—and for teaching. That passion naturally extended to educating my own children and eventually led me to become a paraprofessional and teacher in the school system. I have worked as a paraprofessional for over 5 years and as a 5th and 6th grade reading teacher and have also taught 6th grade writing and science. Currently I work as a substitute teacher and work with students on a daily basis.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been tutoring students after school. I played a key role in the tutoring programs at both the middle school and junior high levels. There’s nothing quite like seeing a student’s face light up when they finally grasp a concept they once thought was beyond their reach. Helping students succeed and grow in their confidence is truly what drives me.
My lesson plans typically start with a creative and engaging activity to introduce the topic, followed by direct instruction to clearly explain the material. I always include time for independent practice so students can apply what they've learned, and I’m readily available to support them with any questions. I adapt my approach as needed to suit each student’s individual learning style and circumstances.
My goal is to support students as much as possible, and I always welcome feedback, resources, or suggestions from both students and parents. I’m easily accessible and committed to responding promptly. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
