"With a passion for sharing knowledge and guiding individuals to achieve their goals, I have taught countless subjects in STEM, test prep, and college applications for the past 16 years. From middle school students to adults, I create individualized plans for clients to progress quickly through their needs!
I graduated from MIT with a bachelor's and a master's in electrical engineering. As a high school senior, I was accepted into every Ivy League university (including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton), Stanford, Caltech, and UChicago. High school was my first introduction to teaching, when I taught piano lessons to several middle school students in my town, as well as running a tutoring program in AP Calculus to my fellow students struggling in the subject. Through college, I tutored high school students in the Boston Public School network as a part of MIT's work-study program, young kindergarteners in reading at the Cambridge Community Center, and English as a Second Language to custodial employees at MIT through a program provided to MIT employees. Even after graduating and working as an engineer for five years, I simultaneously tutored with Cambridge Coaching to feed my desire to educate, focusing on math, science, test prep, and electrical engineering for high school students, college students, and even a tech start-up CEO! Eventually, I left engineering altogether in order to pursue my true passion of teaching! I have been teaching high school students at APEX International Education for the past several months.
My approach to tutoring begins with an evaluation of the student's understanding by looking at past exams and assignments and working through them. If it is the beginning of the semester, I give the student practice questions from pre-requisite courses. After identifying problem areas, I focus on creating a lesson plan to clarify those areas and solidify understanding with appropriate practice problems, either provided on my own or through books and assignments from the class." less...
