"I was a graduate student at UC Davis for 3 years. In my time there, I was a teaching assistant in general and organic chemistry.

I led many discussion sections and review sessions during my time as a TA, preparing lectures and creating practice problems. Over the last two years I have been a private tutor for about forty undergraduate students, gaining experience in how to approach different types of learning styles and catering to them. Oftentimes, a student will find it difficult to understand chemistry simply due to a lack of problem solving skills or deficiencies in basic math and science. Recently, I have become more familiar with the general and organic chemistry curriculum in community and state colleges and have gained expertise in showing students methods that not only make the material much easier to grasp, but also give students a better basis for understanding chemistry.

I am very approachable, and believe that any student can gain at least a basic understanding of chemistry. I have seen many students go from believing they had no chance of passing organic chemistry to drawing reaction mechanisms confidently. Often, once students get past initial hurdles, they gain better intuition for understanding chemistry concepts as the class progresses.
