"Dear Students and Parents,

!Buenos Dias!

It is my pleasure to give you tutoring assistance in your studies in Spanish to help you improve your knowledge of the Spanish language.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of Maryland College Park.

I also took Spanish courses from UMBC including a study abroad course in Salamanca, Spain.

I studied in Salamanca, Spain twice; the first time was for a five week course from UMBC, which was a multi-subject course of Spanish history, literature, politics and culture. During this first course of study, I stayed with a Spanish family who spoke no English by regulation of UMBC. I was under a regimen of strict and total immersion of the Spanish language. I had professors from UMBC and La Universidad de Salamanca.

My second study in Salamanca was for one complete semester and I studied at El Colegio de España. I studied architecture, Spanish literature, folklore, grammar, and history. I stayed with the same family that was provided for me by UMBC. So, I studied in Spain for a total of 9 1/2 months. This experience helped me to gain more and more vocabulary, conversational skills, a knowledge of Spanish culture and its history as well as some lifelong friendships with Spanish people I still hold today. I have always been attracted to the Hispanic culture, which includes Spain, Central and South America because of their festive and outgoing nature. I have been a member of the Peruvian Club of Baltimore for 30+ years. I love Hispanic music because they know how to get into the rhythm with pizazz.

I have experience teaching Spanish at Woodbridge Elementary school. I used Spanish textbooks such as “A Concept Approach to Spanish” by Zenia Sacks Da Silva and I made handouts appropriate to the lessons. My goal is to help the student improve vocabulary, grammar and knowledge of Spanish culture. The Spanish language has many root words with words that stem from these words which makes it easier to memorize vocabulary. Spanish grammar follows the rules" less...
