"Hi! My name is Mark and I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology! I am currently a first year graduate student getting my PhD at Duke University in their Molecular Genetics and Microbiology Program. I spent over two years working in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Washington where I researched how CRISPR functions as an antiviral against bacteriophages. At Duke I am very interested in studying virology, especially viruses that impact human health.

I love science and would love to have the opportunity to help students of all ages to fall in love with the same subject that I did. I coached youth swimming and water polo for over six years so I am very comfortable with working with kids of all ages and skill levels. My most experience comes from basic biology, chemistry, and microbiology, but I have experience with organic chemistry and basic genetics also.
