"I am a passionate, goal-oriented, and strategic educator with over a decade of experience teaching chemistry. I attended St. John’s University, where I majored in Chemistry and double-majored in Secondary Education. I completed my student teaching in a public school in Brooklyn and graduated with honors before earning my master’s degree from Queens College. My teaching career began in New York City, where I quickly developed grit, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. Working with students from diverse and often challenging backgrounds pushed me to design lessons that were not only engaging but also deeply relevant to their lives. At Williamsburg Charter High School, I introduced the AP Chemistry curriculum and was proud to double the school’s passing rate on the Chemistry Regents Exam in my first year.
After relocating to New Jersey, I further strengthened my skills in exam preparation and individualized instruction at a certified tutoring center, working with students on AP Exam prep and later being promoted to SAT writing tutoring. I now teach Honors, College Prep, and AP Chemistry at Stuart Country Day School. In this role, I redesigned the College Prep Chemistry curriculum to frame chemistry through a community lens, which has since become a student favorite. I also completed training with the Watershed Institute, allowing me to integrate local water testing into the curriculum.
My passion for hands-on, inquiry-based science education continues to shape my teaching. At Stuart, I have taught not only chemistry but also Forensics, and AP Environmental Science. In Forensics, I created an arson investigation project that brought in the local fire marshal, giving students a memorable introduction to fire science. Most recently, I designed an elective Organic Chemistry course that features an introduction to reactions involving hydrocarbons." less...
