"Hi all! I’m Ben, a computer scientist helping others find success and inspiration in this exciting field through tutoring. I completed my Master’s in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2022 with a research focus on artificial intelligence for embodied agents, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at the same institution the year prior. In addition to my past three years of private tutoring work, my experience includes an ongoing consulting role for an AI-focused tax and accounting startup, as well as two internships at Texas Instruments. I’ve also pursued programming and robotics as a hobby for the past decade.

Though my research focus was on artificial intelligence and natural language processing, I am proficient in teaching a breadth of topics in university computer science curricula, including: programming fundamentals and languages (Python, C++, Java), machine learning, data structures and algorithms, discrete math, theoretical computer science, digital signal processing, linear algebra, embedded systems, circuits, computer vision, and control systems.

I’ve also had the privilege of working with students of many ages and learning objectives, in both academic and non-academic contexts. I currently or have previously worked with: college students looking for support with coursework, grade school students learning programming for the first time, working professionals looking to advance their technical skills for career advancement, and hobbyists looking for guidance on a personal project. These varied experiences have expanded and deepened both my technical and teaching skills, and as such I feel confident in providing support to students from many walks of life.
