"Hi! I'm Brooke. I am a certified teacher with experience working with elementary children of all ages as well as middle school students, and I truly enjoy helping learners build both academic skills and confidence. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Literacy, which gave me a strong foundation in how students learn to read, write, and think critically. My background allows me to break down concepts in a clear, approachable way and adapt instruction to meet each student where they are.

I spent six years teaching fourth grade in a public school setting, where I taught all core subjects and worked closely with students who had a wide range of learning needs. I focused heavily on literacy instruction, organization, and building strong academic habits, using data and ongoing feedback to guide my teaching. In addition to the regular school year, I also taught summer school reading interventions at the elementary level, working in small groups to help students strengthen foundational reading skills and build confidence. During this time, I helped write the fourth-grade reading and writing curriculum and mentored new teachers, which strengthened my ability to explain skills clearly and support learners in different ways. Building positive relationships with students and families was always a priority for me, and I believe those relationships are key to student success.

Later, I taught sixth through eighth grade as an AVID teacher, where I supported students with organization, time management, goal setting, and college and career readiness skills. I facilitated discussions, tutorials, and small-group coaching sessions that encouraged students to ask questions, think critically, and take ownership of their learning. Whether I am working one-on-one or in a small group, my goal as a tutor is to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, gain confidence, and develop skills they can use long after our sessions end." less...
