"About Me:

I have six years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, public schools, local colleges, and private tutoring services. I have taught students of all ages from all over the world. My strengths are in teaching reading, writing, pronunciation, and grammar. I have earned a bachelor's degree in International Relations, a master's degree in Health Information Systems, and a second master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I am also certified to teach English as a Second Language in the Maryland public schools. Currently, I am working full-time in the healthcare field, but enjoy tutoring privately part-time.

Teaching Approach:

At our first lesson, I will evaluate your speaking ability and pronunciation. We will also discuss your specific goals and what you hope to gain from our tutoring sessions. This could include working on pronunciation, grammar, reading comprehension, and any other goals that are important to you. I will use a variety of teaching techniques and tailor our sessions to your learning style, so that is easier to retain what you learned. Activities may include educational games, listening to video clips, role play, etc.

As far as reading comprehension/writing/proofreading, these skills have always come naturally to me, and I have strengthened them at work and in graduate school. I have written countless research papers on a variety of subjects, and can help students make dramatic improvements in their writing skills. I enjoy explaining the finer points of grammar and helping students learn how to write with confidence.
