"I’m a bioengineering graduate with a strong academic foundation in science and math, and a long-standing enthusiasm for helping others learn. I minored in chemistry and took multiple advanced math courses as part of my degree. I’ve worked in scientific roles since 2009 and stay connected to science and health through regular reading and a genuine interest in the field. My academic background and curiosity make it easy for me to explain difficult concepts in a relatable way, especially to students who need help building confidence in technical subjects.

I began tutoring in high school through a school-sponsored program, where I helped peers with science and math. In college, I continued tutoring through an academic support center. These were formal, paid roles that gave me valuable experience working one-on-one with students. I especially enjoy seeing students have that “aha” moment when a concept finally clicks. While most of my professional career has been in scientific industry roles, I’ve never lost interest in teaching and explaining concepts—especially to adult learners and college students who want to deepen their understanding or catch up on challenging material.

As a tutor, I aim to meet students where they are. I focus on identifying where a student’s understanding breaks down and explaining things clearly and patiently, without jargon. I’m also bilingual in English and Spanish. Since most students are learning these subjects in English, my tutoring is primarily in English, though I’m happy to switch to Spanish when helpful to explain a tricky concept. Academically, I earned a 3.44 GPA in college and performed well on standardized tests, including a 29 composite on the ACT (34 English, 27 Math) and a 160 Verbal / 158 Quantitative on the GRE.
