"Hello, my name is Mark and I am excited to be your tutor in math or science! My undergraduate degree is in Pre-Medicine (GPA 3.4, MCAT 32) and I have a Masters in Biology (GPA 3.6). I received accolades for academic excellence in the form of the University of Dayton President's Scholarship as well as the Thomas C. Versic Scholarship. Previously I've tutored biology, chemistry, physics, SAT/ACT test prep, algebra, basic math, and German for adolescent through adult learners. I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the past thirteen years utilizing knowledge from both degrees and I also have three years of substitute teaching experience at the middle and high school level locally.

My collegiate coursework put me on a trajectory to medical school, and while studying for the MCAT I discovered two things: that I learned best when teaching the material itself, and practical scenarios for lessons were far more effective for utilizing the material. I bring this approach to my teaching where the foremost aspect is how this particular lesson impacts the student's daily life (e.g. how the human body utilizes acids and bases, why friction-less material is best for skiing, etc.). Each lesson is tailored to the individual student or group with relatable examples to help with abstract concepts. I firmly believe that while teaching the material is important, the most vital skill a tutor must master is to identify how their pupil learns and what strategies can be implemented towards that paradigm.

I excel at one-on-one in-person tutoring as this helps to identify the gaps in knowledge and understanding with my students.
