"Hello, I'm Alex! I went to school in Colorado and have lived here my whole life. I love science, music, the outdoors, and my cat. I got my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences. I also hold a Master's of Education in Secondary STEM instruction. I love science, especially biology, ecology, meteorology, and genetics. I have been a full-time teacher for 4 years and teach 8th grade science in Aurora. I have also taught 7th grade math, so I know and enjoy math as well. I tutor students who need extra help in my class, as well as some of my former students who need assistance with what they are currently learning from their teacher now. I really enjoy helping students in a smaller setting and helping them reach their goals. My lessons are fun and engaging and students get practice on the concepts when I am done introducing them, so they can learn on their own a little bit, and I can guide them to the final goal.
In addition to my classroom duties, I have been tutoring online for three and a half years. I started during the pandemic to give students extra help on assignments or with difficult subjects. Currently I tutor elementary and middle school students in math, but I have also helped these students with science concepts they are learning. Although I am certified to teach secondary school students (7th-12th grade), I have taken and passed the elementary certification test, so I can help in elementary subjects other than math or science. I enjoy tutoring because it is more personal than most classroom learning. Students and tutors can build a relationship to learn about each other and the content they are working on. My goal is to benefit students as much as possible, so any resources students and/or parents want to provide, I will use, in addition to resources I use and trust.
