"I'm Amanda! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. During my undergraduate studies, I excelled in courses such as biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry I and II, biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, and physics. I have a strong academic foundation that started early on in my academic career, and I also took a broad range of AP classes in high school including but not limited to: AP Biology, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science, and AP World History. Currently, I work in a marine microbiology research lab, where I continue to apply my scientific training to real-world research.
I have 2+ years of tutoring experience working with students both online and in person. My experience spans a variety of age groups, from middle school students needing help with introductory science and algebra to college students tackling more advanced coursework in chemistry and biology. I've always been an innately curious person and loved learning, and one of the things I love about working with students is getting to share that enthusiasm and inspire it in others.
My tutoring approach focuses on building strong conceptual understanding and confidence. I tailor each session to the student’s individual needs, often using active recall techniques, practice problems, and real-world examples to break down difficult topics. Whether I'm helping a student prepare for an exam or supporting long-term academic growth, I always aim to create a supportive, encouraging environment that fosters independent thinking and normalizes mistakes as part of the learning process. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their immediate academic goals, but also to help them build studying strategies and practices that are tailored to their strengths and learning styles and can be applied across all areas of study.
Please reach out if you have any additional questions or to schedule a lesson! I look forward to working with you!" less...
