"I have a BSBA and MEd Math. I was the math department chair at Alchesay High School. I revamped the curriculum so my kids passed the state (AIMS) graduation exam. When I started, only 3 had passed. I had 5 classes of failing algebra students. After changing the old methods, 7 math teachers on my new team and I helped 108 seniors graduate in one year. I aligned the curriculum to state standards, taught subjects on the exam before the exam, and enrichment after the exam, encouraged innovative learning, and provided hands-on, real-life mathematics. My students excelled and graduated. I began a program of alternative A+ computer-guided math to help kids who had dropped out because of family responsibilities. One student finished 4 years of math in 1 semester. I previously taught community college classes in computer science and math on the Navajo, Hopi, Pima, and Apache communities. My ESL training helped with clear communication of difficult subjects with students, both adult and teens.
