"¡Buenos días! I'm Victoria - a former Spanish teacher with 10+ years of teaching and tutoring Spanish as well as other subjects and standardized tests (GRE, SAT, ACT, ASVAB, GED, etc.).

I began tutoring in college (University of North Florida) where I majored in Spanish and World Literatures. I began as an independent tutor before I joined with Huntington Learning Center. I had the opportunity to work with students between the ages of 12 and 30. Outside of this, I also volunteer tutored at a local women's shelter to help survivors of domestic violence complete their education.

After graduating with my Bachelors, I decided to continue on to graduate school. I initially began as a doctoral student, but ended up leaving with my Masters from Penn State in Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture. After this, I began teaching Spanish at small charter school in Lancaster, PA. My students ranged in ages from 11-19. The Covid pandemic struck in March of 2020, and I began to teach online. At the same time, I move to New York, and I began teaching at an independent school just outside of the city. I taught different levels of Spanish beginning with Spanish 1 and extending to post-AP literature and history courses taught completely in Spanish. Most recently, I taught at an independent school in Brooklyn where I taught the same range of Spanish.

For Spanish, I believe that immersion is the best way to learn in a classroom setting. One on one, I prefer to focus on the skills and patterns that will help a student develop fluency. For non-Spanish subjects such as Chemistry (honors or AP), math (Algebra, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, etc.) , or history, I have slightly different approaches that center on the student building critical thinking skills that will help them in the classroom. I have also successfully tutored students who have desired to take the GED, the ASVAB, the SAT, the ACT, and the GRE. I have taken all of these tests except the GED, and I learned different strategies in my time with Huntington." less...
