"Hi! I’m Emily, an experienced Special Education teacher with a strong background in teaching English, reading, and writing to students with diverse learning needs. I have worked for several years in resource rooms, co-taught English classrooms, and small-group intervention settings, supporting students from elementary through high school.

My teaching philosophy centers on meeting each learner exactly where they are. I specialize in helping students who struggle with reading comprehension, writing structure, executive functioning, confidence, and motivation. I believe that every student is capable of growth when given the right tools, clear explanations, and patient, individualized support.

I use evidence-based strategies drawn from my special education training, including scaffolding, chunking, explicit modeling, and multisensory instruction. I’m experienced with IEP goals, accommodations, and designing targeted lessons that help students strengthen their skills while also building independence. Whether a student needs help organizing an essay, understanding literature, improving grammar, or boosting reading fluency, I tailor every session to their unique learning style.

What I love most about tutoring is watching students gain confidence as they master skills that once seemed overwhelming. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but to help them become stronger, more confident learners overall.
