"From after school program tutoring volunteer to undergraduate and graduate adjunct instructor, I have had many experiences teaching. Throughout college, I volunteered at multiple programs. These programs gave me one on one time with young students, elementary through high school. After college, I spent one year as a volunteer coordinator at a community center in Chicago's south side. Many times, I would assist with our after school programs and help tutor. After one year at the community center, I decided to go back to school for my masters in public health.
At Saint Louis University, I concentrated in epidemiology and health policy. Although I didn't concentrate in biostatistics, I was only one class shy of enough credits for a concentration. In addition to the coursework, I was a teacher's assistant for two graduate level biostatistics courses: General Linear Modeling and SAS. After graduating with my MPH, I worked for one year as a statistician and technical writer at a health system headquartered in Chesterfield, MO. While working full time at the health system, I taught undergraduate basic statistics at a local university. I worked as a social science policy analyst at a federal agency for over 3 years. I trained other federal employees on statistics and data analysis techniques as well as conducted analyses using data from our nutrition programs. I have taught 2 courses for the MPH/MHA program at Saint Louis University, Analytical Methods for Healthcare Management and Government Financing of Healthcare. I have a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with over 9 years of lean six sigma process improvement experience. Currently, I am an Innovation Specialist at the USDA Food and Nutrition Services.
As an educator, it is my job to find out the best way for a student to learn and assist in any way that I can." less...
