"Hi! I'm Julian, a third-year college student majoring in Nursing. My experience in statistics include passing AP Statistics with a 4 on the AP exam, and passing statistics with a 99% in college. As a student, I have also experienced the difficulties of not understanding content, of feeling lost and not knowing how to proceed, of wanting to give up because the content is too hard. It had always been frustrating to hit a seemingly dead end, so when I was offered the opportunity to become a tutor way back in high school, I took it with little to no hesitation.
As mentioned prior, I first started tutoring in high school, mainly covering general math subjects such as algebra, geometry and statistics for a year. Later on in college, I was offered a tutoring job for statistics and chemistry, where students were free to approach me at a station for help with any problems, as well as one-on-one tutoring appointments. I also worked this job for a year, and I helped a lot of students out over that course of time.
Being a tutor has always been about guiding students down the right path, rather than just giving them the right answer. I carry this mentality with me when it comes to the methods by which I tutor. My typical tutoring cycle starts off with asking the student how they interpret the content that confuses them. This process gives me something to work off of, and gives me an idea of what aspects of the content to focus on, and what aspects can be addressed at a later time.
You can expect to be asked some questions partway through the session, which is my way of making sure that you're understanding the content, or if we need to take some more time to explain the content. This may sound intimidating in a way, but this is not meant to get you in trouble of any sort. It's just so that I can help you learn in the most effective way possible. Feel free to ask any questions if you need some more clarification.
I look forward to hopefully working with you!
