"Hello! My name is Calia. I am an active college student pursuing a degree in Biotechnology. My academic background has strengthened my passion for helping students grow in STEM subjects, and I enjoy making learning feel approachable and engaging. I have experience teaching Science, Math, and introductory Algebra to elementary and middle school students, and I focus on breaking down concepts in ways that fit each child’s learning style. Whether a student learns best through visuals, hands-on examples, or step-by-step explanations, I tailor every session to their individual needs. While I have not yet completed my degree, I am fully confident that my knowledge, dedication, and teaching experience will support your child’s academic success.
Additionally, I hold a certification in behavioral therapy as a behavioral technician (non-registered), which has given me valuable insight into supporting different behaviors and learning needs. I have worked closely with children with disabilities and autism, making sure they feel understood, encouraged, and cared for throughout the learning process. Additionally, my experience as a swim instructor allowed me to teach students breathing techniques and strategies to manage nerves and anxiety, skills I believe translate well into helping children stay calm when facing academic challenges. This combination of experiences helps me approach tutoring with patience, empathy, and strong problem-solving skills. I always aim to create a learning environment where students feel both supported and capable.
Above all, my priority is to make both students and parents feel comfortable and confident during our time working together. I value open communication and strive to be as responsive and dependable as possible. I want every child to feel proud of their progress and empowered by the skills they gain. I am dedicated to helping students reach their academic goals, and I will always do my absolute best to support their growth in a positive, thoughtful, and personalized way." less...
