"I have over 10 years experience as a High School Teacher with additional educational experience in lower levels and adult education. I have an undergraduate degree in Finance. I have two Masters Degrees and two teaching credentials. My credentials are Single Subject in Business Education and a Special Education Credential in Mild/Moderate Area. My first Master's Degree is in Special Education. Additionally I have a Master's Degree from the European Center for Peace Studies in Conflict Transformation.
Due to my educational and work experiences I am an extremely well rounded person and tutor. In reference to my teaching experience, much of it was in academic support of all subjects so I feel confident to quickly understand and tutor many content areas. Aside from Math above the Geometry level I am willing and able to assist any student's needs. I also had four plus years experience in writing IEPs. With this experience I am quickly able to teach to IEP goals and assist in the reporting on such goals (as well as giving input to create new goals as a student my achieve and progress). Executive function is a skill that I can hone. Study habits and brief mental health/concentration and physical interventions that improve the minds' effeciency is a specialty of mine. This comes as a result of writing a thesis for my Masters in Education on breathing techiniques and other physical interventions to improve physical and mental health.
I can consult on many areas of any IEP. I am experienced in business management, accounting and taxes, and international non-humanitarian protection and advocacy work. Additionally, I am a published journalist on international affairs and human rights. I believe I can in subtle and humble ways use all these experiences to help inform the students I work with of the world beyond them. The world beyond us can often hold the keys to furthering personal and academic development." less...
