"My name is Allyson and I have ten years of teaching and instructional coaching experience. I've taught various social studies and history courses including AP Human Geography and IB History (for which I've also served as an examiner). I have a BA in Africana Studies and Latin American Studies from UPenn and an MAT from Miami University. I hold the following certifications: Texas 7-12 social studies, National Board Certified Teacher, ESL and TEFL.

I've recently transitioned out of the classroom but am eager to continue supporting students in their educational journeys. In particular, I am passionate about making challenging and advanced academic coursework accessible to all students and specialize in scaffolding and differentiating for diverse students. I welcome students with learning differences, those who struggle academically, or are learning English ( I also speak Spanish!). As a former AP and IB teacher and Ivy League graduate, I also can help high achieving students by providing additional opportunities to engage in deeper thinking, elevate their writing, or strategically prepare for exams in order to reach their maximum intellectual potential. I stay up to date on educational research and like to help students employ metacognitive strategies and learning science to improve their study habits.
