"Aloha, I'm Rachel! I am a former elementary school teacher. I have 12 years of experience in the classroom teaching grades 2,3, and 4. I spent the last 8 years as a grade 4 teacher here in Honolulu. I also have nearly 7 years of tutoring experience with grades K-6. I have experience with SSAT Prep and subject enrichment. I have worked for a tutoring center as well as private in-home jobs as well. I am now a full-time student at Chaminade University pursuing a doctorate degree. I am studying to be a child psychologist.

I am a lifelong learner with a passion for working with children. I enjoy tutoring and feel capable of supporting young children as they navigate their way through school. I have experience with English as a second language (ESL) students as well as students who have special or unique needs. I enjoy all subjects but particularly enjoy teaching reading, writing, and science. Tutoring is enjoyable for me because I look forward to the one-on-one personalized instruction, and being someone who may be able to help a child with an area they need some extra support in. Math is fun! I try to teach children math skills and topics in an enjoyable way using visuals, games, and manipulative's. I have experience with pre-common core / standard or traditional skills, as well as can implement common core strategies for math as well. I have experience in teaching elementary grade level skills to include multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, and decimals etc, as well as SSAT prep materials to include pre-algebra for grade 6 admission.

I love SCIENCE! I have a minor in biology, and have always enjoyed teaching my students about topics such as the food chain, animals and plants, and the human body.
