"Hi! My name is Ayane. I studied Biology at Vassar College, where I earned the Virginia Swinburne Brownell Prize for excellence in Biology upon my graduation with a 3.8/4.0 GPA. I first started babysitting and tutoring back in Middle/High School, working with elementary students through the Achieve Foundation. I have been working in education since 2024. I spent a year as an Ecology Educator at The Ecology School in Saco, ME, where I worked with students K-8th, and am currently a Lead Educator at White Pine Programs in York, ME, running programs with kids ages 4-6 and 7-9 years old. I am also a substitute teacher in the Portsmouth, NH School District.
I am passionate about teaching, and believe that every student has the ability to thrive when provided the tools they need. I’ve been the kid with ADHD and anxiety struggling to meet academic expectations, and I remember feeling vulnerable, embarrassed, and even frustrated when sat down with a tutor. It wasn’t until college, when I started to reach out for individualized support on my own, that I realized how fortunate I’d been to have received that one-on-one attention. In the end, what really made a difference in my ability to not only pass, but succeed in areas I found challenging were the educators who genuinely cared — the tutors, learning center employees, and teachers that welcomed me with passion for their subjects and the willingness to provide extra clarification and help when asked.
In my time teaching, I have worked with students with mental and physical disabilities, students who are giving up, and students who’d rather be anywhere else than learning with me. Wherever you fall, I will meet you where you are, and cater to your individual needs. Whether I am just a typical hour of your week, or your last resort, send me a message — I’m here for you." less...
