"Learning something new is often difficult and sometimes intimidating. There is a strong desire to understand something immediately and be labeled a “genius,” or a fear that something is wrong if a skill takes time to develop. However, both my personal experience and research found in psychology suggest that striving for perfection is one of the fastest ways to sabotage learning. Ironically, mistakes are essential for growth. First, they help us understand why something is right or wrong. Second, outside of formal schooling there is often no single correct way to do something, and accidental deviations can lead to innovation rather than failure. For these reasons, I encourage my students to adopt a playful attitude toward mistakes and try to help remove fear from the learning process.

Beyond my philosophy of learning, I work full-time in marketing operations for a major educational publishing and technology company. I earned my Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology—the psychology of the workplace—from Montclair State University in 2023, graduating with a 3.98 GPA. My academic focus included statistics and data science techniques applied to personnel and organizational data. I earned a 163/170 on the GRE Verbal section, have worked as a Mental Health Technician at one of New Jersey’s leading psychiatric hospitals, and have been recruited as either a tutor or a Graduate Assistant at every higher education institution I have attended.

I grew up with ADHD and dyslexia, so I understand how important it is to have a tutor who is patient, encouraging, and flexible. I believe that while not everyone learns in the same way, everyone is capable of learning. I make it a priority to tailor my approach to each student’s strengths, needs, and goals.
