"Hi, I'm Kate! I'm a scientist and former research faculty member at the University of Michigan, with 24 years of experience in tutoring, teaching, and mentoring. Over the years, I've worked with students from age 10 through adulthood, in one-on-one sessions, small groups, labs, and full classes.

What sets my tutoring apart is my focus on building a connection with each student, making learning engaging, and meeting them at their current level and pace. I have significant experience supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning challenges, and I understand how these can affect the learning process. My goal is to ensure that these challenges are not obstacles to your or your child’s success.

My approach is highly adaptable to the needs and objectives of each student. Are you or your child preparing for the SATs or MCATs? We’ll create tailored study plans, review key concepts, practice test strategies, and build confidence for test day. Struggling with a difficult math class and feeling discouraged? I’ll help break down the concepts, revisit where things stopped making sense, and rebuild understanding step by step—helping to turn frustration into confidence.

I use a student-centered approach, often relying on the Socratic method, where students explain the material back to me after learning it. This solidifies their grasp of the topic and helps them feel empowered to retrieve and apply what they’ve learned independently.
