"Hello! I am Sameera, and I am currently a Pre-Med student at Oregon State University. I also am working towards a degree in Biology. In the future, I hope to go to medical school and eventually become a physician. I've always loved working with kids, and I have worked with a wide variety of abilities and interests. I've worked for 3 years at a tutoring center, specifically aiding kids with their Math and Reading. I've also worked independently for a year, tutoring for high school and middle school kids. Through my years at the tutoring center, I've taught a wide range of students, from ages 3 to 16. I've taught both reading and math. I've also worked with special needs children in school during the summer.

In regards to my teaching approach, I always cater to the student. Every student has different preferences and I've found that students learn best when they are engaged in a way that works for them. During the session, I like to discuss what they are feeling stuck on and go through examples. I often use worksheets or a whiteboard to go over material together. Afterwards, I will always provide practice material outside of class to enforce what was taught in the session. If they feel stuck on something, they can bring it back the next class and we will go over it.

I want the kids to walk away feeling more confident in their abilities and to not be afraid in asking questions. I also want to encourage them to voice their opinions in how they learn, so any suggestions or resources from either parent or student is always welcomed and appreciated.
