"Hi, I'm Margie. I specialize in test preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, DET) and English for those who plan to relocate (or are already here!) for work, study, and daily life. As I've lived outside of my home country (the USA) for over half of my adult life, I understand the challenges of adjusting to an international move.

Since obtaining my TEFL certification, I've gained over half a decade of experience teaching in the private sector, schools, and on online platforms.

I truly enjoy helping students and clients achieve better communication at work, better exam scores, and an easier time with daily speaking. If your first language isn't English, it can be difficult to express your "true self" in the language. It takes time, but I promise, it gets easier with practice! In addition to reviewing grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, I help students "get a grip" on idiomatic language and cultural references, boosting their conversational skills.

For our first meeting, we'll have a friendly chat about your tutoring needs and I'll answer any questions you may have. My general teaching style is fairly relaxed, yet always results-oriented. I'll take time to listen to your needs and expectations from tutoring, help you set realistic goals and can adjust our lesson pace to fit your schedule.

Some of my biggest professional interests include medical English, OET preparation, language acquisition theory, and etymology. Outside of work, I'm a huge film buff, I love listening to 90s and 2000s hip hop, and I really enjoy genealogy and picking up new creative hobbies." less...
