"Hello! My name is Ursula and I am so excited to meet my future students! A little bit about me is that I finished undergrad from Augusta University with a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. I am currently in grad school at the Dental College of Georgia!
I have always enjoyed tutoring and it has been one of my greatest passions since high school. While I usually helped students in test prep for SAT, PSAT, and the DAT, I also aid in other AP classes and subject too! I think tutoring is a great way not only to help someone understand the topics present but also it helps me master these subjects. I learned early on that simply reading textbooks and memorizing facts were not going to get me the grades I wanted. So instead, I discovered new ways to grasp onto concepts through drawing diagrams or coming up with funny rhymes to keep facts in line. While long lectures in college are unavoidable, there are definitely smarter ways to take notes so you can get the most information without keeping too many small details. This is something I try to share with my students because I am not just here to teach you how photosynthesis works or the formula for finding the area of a circle. I want to give you the tips that helped me become a better learner too. In my 6 years of experience as a tutor, I have come across students of all ages and learning abilities. Not everyone learns the same! For instance, virtual lessons with 3rd graders requires more hands-on at-home activities to really help then visually understand concepts. On the other hand, going through different bacteria species with a microbiology student in college will require some charts and fun diagrams I have made.
I love hearing feedback from my students and getting to know them as a person. The better I know them, the more I am able to help in a beneficial way. It has taken me a long time to learn how to learn and I want to make this journey easier for others. I look forward to working with you soon!" less...
