"Hello my name is Carol. I am currently Highly Qualified in Special Education (specifically in Behavior Disorders) and Early Childhood Education. I retired after teaching for 25 years and began tutoring students with and without learning differences in piano, clarinet, reading, math, science, and social studies. Over the course of 25 years I have taught and worked with students with emotional disorders, autism, mental retardation, Learning Disabilities, ADD/ADHD, and with physical/orthopedic challenges. I believe that it is most important to learn what motivates the student, and to determine how they best learn and what his or her strengths and weaknesses are to structure achievable learning tasks to reach goals and objectives. I have always enjoyed working and learning with students. Recently I volunteered and substituted at a special needs school for children with learning differences.

Music is also one of my loves. I have found music to be very useful as a tool in my teaching career and have utilized it on numerous occasions to facilitate learning. I have an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy and clarinet was my primary instrument. I have played the clarinet for over 50 years and am actively involved in playing clarinet in a community band and viola in a community orchestra.
