"I hold a background in education as an Academic Interventionist, specializing in reading and literacy support for middle school students. Over the years, I have worked with learners in grades K–8 who needed additional support in reading comprehension, writing, and study skills. My work has included both small-group instruction and one-on-one tutoring, which has given me the opportunity to individualize lessons based on each student’s needs and learning style. I am also trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured, multisensory method proven to help students who struggle with reading.
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each learner. I believe that students learn best when they feel encouraged and when lessons are interactive and engaging. I use a variety of strategies, including guided practice, modeling, and structured literacy techniques, to build foundational skills while also fostering independence and confidence. Many of my students have come to me frustrated with reading or writing, and I take pride in helping them not only improve academically but also begin to enjoy the learning process.
I have worked in classroom and intervention settings for several years, which has given me valuable insight into the challenges students face in today’s curriculum. Because of this, I am able to connect tutoring sessions to real classroom expectations, helping students see immediate progress. Whether it is preparing for assignments, improving comprehension, or building stronger writing skills, I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel capable and supported. My goal is always to equip students with the tools and confidence they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom." less...
