My name is Abigail and I'm a junior English Education major at Miami University. I am currently at the top of my field with a 03.90 GPA, and I get to soak in teaching Wisdom from top professors like Katherine Batchelor and Kelli Rushek. I completed fieldwork over the fall for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors at Ross High School, where I learned from veteran teachers about their approach to student success. Miami also requires all of their secondary English education majors to take educational theory classes, specific literature courses (including German Fairytales, Shakespeare, American Literature, etc.), and advanced writing courses that have equipped me to help my students in any category of English they may struggle in.

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working as a tutor where I’ve honed my skills in supporting students with a variety of academic challenges including mid-term/final essays, projects, complex/difficult literature studies, and more! My approach to teaching is student-centered and each session is tailored to meet individual needs. I emphasize active learning, critical thinking, and developing strong writing and reading skills. My goal is to make lessons engaging, approachable, and impactful, using a mix of strategies that include guided practice, direct instruction, and opportunities for students to apply what they learned in real-world contexts.
