"I graduated cum laude in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University with a minor in Engineering management. I first started tutoring math, science, and language in high school and eventually became the President of my high school's after-school tutoring club. In college, I participated in a student teaching program during which I introduced engineering principles to students in a nearby elementary school. I developed lesson plans that coincided with the current science topics that students were learning in their classrooms. I paired these lesson plans with activities that required students to solve, build, and most importantly, ask the necessary questions to drive the lesson home. Later in college, I also became a laboratory TA. I was assigned with giving lectures on background theory before beginning experimentation, watching over student safety in the lab, and making sure students understood the procedure and how to interpret their data so they were able to write their lab reports. I also held office hours where I answered questions to help students in the classroom complete their homework assignments for the course.

Because I enjoyed the concepts and ideas that I learned through my coursework, I also enjoy sharing them with others through teaching. I recognize that students are often met with challenging coursework, but fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes learning will make the challenge seem less formidable. I think that it is important that students are shown the bigger picture- that they understand why they are learning rather than just what they are learning- and that this makes the learning experience more rewarding. Additionally, I like to make sure students do individual work to practice the material on their own, and make myself available to any questions that they have throughout their learning.
