"I’m Katie! I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Pre-Law, and a minor in Sociology from Suffolk University in 2021. To this very day, the professors that I held in the highest regard were not necessarily the classes that came the easiest to me. For example, there was one professor that I had for Legal Research II at Suffolk University, that made me aware that my skillset was lacking compared to the other students in her class, and not because I couldn’t grasp the concepts, but in terms of application I was at a deficit given that I had not taken Legal Research I with her. So that semester, unfortunately, I was playing a big game of catch up and asking many questions after class and visiting her during office hours to get as caught up as I could. But to this day, she remains one of my favorite professors because she didn’t sugarcoat things for me and she pushed me hard, which at the time was what I needed. So, my point being is that every good tutor will find a way to make the material relatable to the student, and create lesson plans based on that student, but sometimes a person needs something more individualized like I did.
I have two years of tutoring experience, which I attained working with a wide range of age groups from kindergarten through to high school. I gained my experience as a junior counselor and daycare center tutor. The most relevant was as a junior counselor for Camp S.O.A.R., where I mostly worked with middle schoolers and high school students with disabilities across any standard subject, they needed tutoring in. In this setting, I tutored Algebra, Geometry, Biology, History, and English individually, as well as in small focus groups.
I want the students I tutor, and their parents, to view this as a mutually beneficial dynamic. I will always do my best to be rapid with responses and I’m open to feedback from students and parents, and willing to utilize any new resources I’m not familiar with. Contact me for any questions or concerns, or if you’d like to book a lesson with me!" less...
