"Hi, I'm Maggie! I have a passion for explaining complex topics in STEM to anyone who wants to learn. My tutoring experience started with physics, chemistry, biology, and calculus in high school, continued with introductory physics at Columbia, and continued through teaching quantum physics and astrophysics to the general public as a graduate student at MIT. Since receiving my doctorate, I have been working in a multidisciplinary research lab, so I have extensive experience seeing how the skills and concepts taught in STEM classes are applied in the real world.
My teaching style combines the use of real-life examples and creative analogies to help you develop an understanding of the topic, as well as targeted practice on areas that my students need the most assistance. I also highly value collaboration in the learning process, and am open to feedback and suggestions from students and parents, so that I can adjust my methods to your learning style.
I like to use analogies, metaphors, and fun and creative stories to help my students understand and remember complex topics in STEM. Science is about understanding the world around us, the world we live in. We already have an intuitive understanding of how many things work, and as a tutor I'm here to help you connect the things you already know to the concepts and questions in your homework, exams, and other class assignments.
I firmly believe that the only thing between you and success is time. Time spent practicing. Time spent building confidence. I will help you figure out what to focus on, so you can get the most out of your time studying. Do you freeze when you see certain questions, and feel like you don't know where to start? I'm here to walk you through the problems you find challenging, to talk through the process step by step from start to finish. By guiding you through the thought process for problem solving, I am dedicated to helping you develop the confidence and skills to succeed on your own." less...
