"Hello, my name is Nick! I recently completed my undergraduate degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics at Boise State University, where I maintained a 3.84 GPA and was a member of the Honors College. During my undergraduate career, I balanced a rigorous academic workload with leadership roles, including serving as president of the club soccer team. My coursework covered a wide range of upper-division physics and mathematics topics, and the honors curriculum emphasized clear communication, problem solving, and independent thinking. This academic foundation strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt explanations to different learning styles.
I am currently pursuing my PhD degree in Physics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where I have just completed my first semester. During this time, I taught three sections of Physics III laboratory courses, working directly with undergraduate students to guide experiments, reinforce theoretical concepts, and support scientific reasoning. In addition to teaching labs, I work weekly in the physics tutoring center, where I provide one-on-one assistance to students across multiple physics courses.
Across both my undergraduate and graduate experiences I have taught a wide variety of material ranging from elementary math skills to undergraduate electromagnetic courses with a specialty in Calculus I and II as well as physics I. I emphasize conceptual understanding, step-by-step reasoning, and developing strong problem-solving habits rather than memorization. Having recently navigated these courses myself, I understand the challenges students face and strive to create a supportive, patient environment that helps students build confidence and independence in physics and mathematics." less...
