"Hi, I’m Shivank! I am an honors student at The Ohio State University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological and Chemical Engineering. Throughout my academic career, I was always drawn to challenges, wanting to complete them and enhance my learning abilities. I noticed I had an affinity for STEM classes and always excelled in those through self-motivation. However, I have had teachers and professors in various classes who implemented various learning strategies to make their content more engaging and valuable, and I benefitted heavily from such strategies. As a result, I use the methods I learned and pass them on to my students.

I have been tutoring for a few years now, both in person and virtual, and having experience in both has greatly increased my passion for learning, and I wish to share it with my students. One relevant experience I have is I managed summer camp in a low-income neighborhood, teaching children in Elementary and Middle school how to read, write, and improve their English language and grammar skills, along with boosting their knowledge in STEM-related subjects. We raised their confidence and standardized test scores by providing consistent, tailored help to each child.

I had a math teacher in high school who preached, “DO WHAT MAKES SENSE!” it has stuck with me; instead of being nervous about a particular topic or problem, I should approach it with common sense and do what makes sense. I will work with you to help you conquer those fears and do what makes sense. I thrived on visual learning and in-depth explanations, so I bring that to my tutoring experience. I mostly specialize in Math and Science-related subjects, but I don’t shy away from Writing as I consider it important!
