"Hi, I'm Tacha! I have always loved science, particularly Biology and Chemistry. In college I majored in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience and minored in Psychology. I then went on to get a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from Cornell University. I have taught a wide range of classes including Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Biochemistry, and Forensics.

Some of the most memorable classes I have had were with professors who were enthusiastic about what they were teaching and had a sense of humor. I believe that if the teacher is not having fun then the students aren't either and they will have a much harder time learning. I also help students understand the practical aspects of what they are learning. We talk about how what they are learning connects to the real world. In teaching and tutoring I use a "I Do, We Do, You Do" method of teaching. First I will explain and demonstrate a problem, then we will work through one together, and then you will try one on your own. I always try to tailor my teaching to the students preferred style of learning. I love tutoring because students come in struggling and I get to see that "Ah-ha!" moment when they really understand a topic.

I have been teaching at the high school and university level for over 15 years. I taught Biochemistry, Biochemistry Lab, and Chemistry Lab at San Francisco State University for 5 years. I also taught numerous courses at Notre Dame de Namur University for over 10 years including Biochemistry Lab, Biology, Biology Lab, Chemistry, Nutrition and Forensics. I have also been teaching Biology and Chemistry at Fusion Academy, a private high school, for over two years. At Fusion we have a 1:1 teaching model, so I work with only one student per class and it allows me to really tailor to the students needs, style of learning, and personal interests.
