"Hi, I'm Michael! I have eight years of teaching and tutoring experience in Social Studies, from middle school all the way to graduate school. I have tutored students one-on-one, and taught classes of 120 students. I have a strong background in all Social Studies subjects, and I specialize in History and Geography, as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS). For my undergraduate education at Louisiana State University (LSU), I earned B.A. degrees in both Geography and History, graduating summa cum laude in 2018. I continued my education at LSU, earning a M.S. degree in Geography in 2021. I am returning to school at LSU part-time to complete a PhD in Geography. I have also had my work published in two professional scientific journals so far, with a book chapter for an anthology being published soon.

As part of my B.A. degree in History, I had a concentration in Secondary Education. I became a certified Social Studies teacher for Grades 6-12 in the state of Louisiana through completing LSU's GeauxTeach program. As part of this training, I completed hundreds of hours of student teaching at local high schools and middle schools. I also worked as a supplemental instructor at LSU in 2017, and then worked as a graduate teaching assistant for two years while completing my Master's degree. I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach part-time at LSU as an adjunct instructor starting in 2023. I have taught two 1000-level geography courses, and 4000-level and 7000-level GIS courses.

As my full-time career, I work for the City-Parish of Baton Rouge as a GIS analyst. Teaching has always been a passion of mine.
