"My name Is Shawnie, and I have been a 10 year long career English teacher for PPS schools and recently took time off to finish raising my children at home. However, teaching is in my blood! My target age group has been Middle school, but I have taught and mentored in the upper levels. With the shift of educational standards and focus on test preparation, I know that English has become a stressful class for a lot of students, but it doesn't have to be! My strategy is student centered, and I know how to deliver curriculum so that the student becomes confident and successful, and as a teacher that has worked directly with different school curriculums, state standards, and proven to raise scores, I am really confident that I can teach life-long reading and writing that will ensure your success throughout your schooling career.

I am a Level II certified English teacher with the state of Pennsylvania, and have a Master's degree in Instructional Leadership. I have worked with students of all economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds, and have taught in a mainstream, gifted, and Read180 classroom. I have focused solely on grades 6-8 for the past 8 years, and I know the general struggles students have in the content. I've also created my own curriculum to meet the kids individual needs and learning styles.
