"Hello there! My name is Madelynn, and I am an experienced tutor with a diverse humanitees background passionate about helping students improve their analytical writing skills, public speaking, and confidence in the classroom.
I received my bachelors degree in Classics from Mount Holyoke College, where I was a Latin Tutor for three years. There, I took several courses on the principals of tutoring through the college's Speaking, Arguing, and Writing center which expanded my catalogue of skills and inspired my passion for helping students improve their writing and public speaking. In my first year, I was recognized with the Robert P. Sibley prize for students that showed significant promise in English composition, and I continued to receive praise for my analytical writing abilities throughout my undergraduate career.
Previously, I had extensive experience working as a swim instructor and a voice teacher. As a swim instructor, I ran two very successful swim programs, developing curriculum and overseeing other instructors. One program was specifically designed for older non-swimmers, many of whom had a fear of the water (ages 12 to 25). Combined with my experience teaching voice, I have found that I am well suited to help students conquer their fears whether that be of the water, of performing in front of others, or of presenting to an audience.
I currently work as a legal assistant, and I hold a local title in the Miss America Organization. As I prepare for my first year at the University of Colorado School of Law, these roles have helped me continue developing my research, writing, and public speaking abilities.
If you have made it this far, I hope that you will consider allowing me to help you tackle your academic challenge! Based on your goals, I will develop a lesson plan that will target knowledge gaps, highlight useful strategies, and build your confidence for future challenges! I look forward to meeting you!" less...
