"Hello, my name is Annelise! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Writing. I tutored fellow college students in essay writing, creative writing, and literature comprehension during my college years. I discovered during high school that I enjoyed coaching others with their writing and reading comprehension. This enjoyment solidified in college when my peers asked for help in understanding their readings or remembering the proper formatting for an essay. I realized during this time the importance of having a calm atmosphere where someone is willing to help figure out the difficulties. When tutoring, I specially format the session and following sessions to the student by continuously working on their main point of struggle, which will be discovered throughout the time working together.

I have six months of private tutoring experience during eighth grade and one year tutoring experience during college. In high school, I worked with a student on reading and reading comprehension. This student struggled in reading and writing, so I worked with her to improve her reading skills in order to understand what was being learned in the classroom. In college, I worked with students struggling with writing and formatting essays. These students did not have an understanding of writing for the college level, so I assisted them through writing sessions and peer reviews. I also tutored students in creative writing by discussing their story lines and characters, providing feedback, and motivating them throughout their writing process.
