"Hi, I'm Peter! I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a BA in English and a focus in Creative Writing. I've had an itch to read and write for my entire life, and I believe deeply in the transformative power of writing. Writing teachers made all the difference for me -- I was lucky to have ones that took great care to meet me at my level of skill and experience and encourage me to find my own voice. My goal is to empower students to find their unique writing voice and learn broadly applicable editing and critical thinking skills. I tutor using a scaffolding method, which is designed to help students gradually become more and more independent in pursuing their learning goals.

I worked with high school, college age, and adult students in the Writing Center at Pierce College in Puyallup, WA. I also worked as an embedded tutor, which involved working with professors to develop lesson plans, monitoring student progress across a class each quarter, and stepping in to teach classes or hold group tutoring sessions when necessary. My tutoring background is primarily in academic writing, but it's my job to help students comprehend or compose any kind of written material. I especially love teaching creative writing -- it's a joy to watch students learn how to express themselves and unleash their imagination on the blank page.
