"I'm Annslee! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Arts in Global Studies and in Spanish with a minor in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies. Before I went to college, I was not the most confident in my writing skills. I would get stuck in circles with myself not understanding how to improve, specifically how to go deeper in my analysis. During my first year writing class at my university, my professor helped me get out of my head and get words onto the paper. My second year I became a tutor for my university's Writing Center.

Through my time with the Writing Center, I gained experience tutoring undergraduate and graduate students, as well as, classroom experience in a first-year writing class. To best help my students, I would get to know them and explain writing skills and techniques in a way that made more sense to them. For example, if they were a music student, I would relate the writing back to music. Additionally, I encouraged students to think without the paper. Sometimes, it is easy to get stuck on having no words on the page or needing to meet a word count. I encourage my students to think about the topic freely without the constraints of the paper. Then, we will review what they said and return to the page.
