"Hello! I’m Oliver, an undergraduate dual Molecular and Cellular Biology and Finance major at the University of Connecticut, offering tutoring in many STEM subjects like AP Biology, Algebra II, Precalculus, Statistics, English, and SAT (Math and Reading). My academic foundation is exceptionally strong, highlighted by a 3.9/4.0 High School GPA in a rigorous curriculum and demonstrable subject mastery proven by achieving 5’s on both the AP Calculus BC and AP Biology exams and through this I was also a member of the National Honor Society.
My teaching experience spans over 200 hours of tutoring, ranging from middle school students to those at the collegiate level, in settings including high school peer tutoring and one-on-one independent sessions. In addition, I am officially Schoolhouse Certified for teaching SAT Math and English through a high SAT score and examination, while also having successfully tutored many students through their platform. In my experience, successful learning that actually sticks comes from understanding why something works — not just memorizing formulas or definitions etc. My approach focuses on building strong conceptual foundations that my students feel confident in before moving to problem-solving. I use structured lesson plans that can make challenging topics more approachable and guide students step-by-step until they feel confident about solving problems on their own without help.
I utilize structured lesson plans to make challenging topics approachable, guiding students step-by-step until they can confidently solve problems independently. Whether students need help catching up, preparing for an exam, or getting ahead, or even preparing for college, I can adapt each lesson to individual goals and learning style. My goal is to make every session both efficient and encouraging, helping my students not only improve their grades but also develop long-term confidence in their academic abilities." less...
