"I hold a strong background in secondary education, having taught English since 2004. Over the past twenty years, I have worked with students in grades 7 through 12, guiding them through literature, composition, and critical analysis. My current role includes teaching Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, where I prepare students for college-level reading and writing while helping them succeed on the AP exam. In addition to classroom teaching, I serve as my school’s Instructional Coach, which allows me to mentor teachers and lead professional development initiatives.
My teaching and tutoring approach is holistic and student-centered. I believe in meeting learners where they are, whether that means scaffolding skills for struggling readers or pushing advanced students to refine their analytical writing. I use a combination of direct instruction, Socratic discussion, and individualized feedback to ensure students build confidence and mastery. Beyond academics, I emphasize resilience and growth, encouraging students to develop both intellectually and personally.
With extensive experience in one-on-one tutoring, small group workshops, and whole-class instruction, I bring flexibility and adaptability to each session. I have worked with diverse learners across different contexts, including individualized coaching for teachers, curriculum planning for teams, and school-wide professional development. This breadth of experience allows me to tailor my tutoring to the unique needs of each student, whether they are preparing for AP exams, strengthening foundational skills, or seeking enrichment. My goal is always to help learners achieve measurable growth while fostering a lifelong appreciation for literature and learning." less...
