"I'm Wuyuan, and I hold a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz. During my time as an undergraduate, I always had a hard time following lectures when the professor addressed around 200 students and didn't have time to answer questions. However, I always attended tutoring sessions provided by the school or the class, and I found that in smaller group sessions, I was able to actively interact with the tutor or TA by asking questions about the topic to clarify any confusion. In addition, during these sessions, I had time to work through problems or concepts myself and had time to ask questions if I got stuck. As I became a tutor for the classes I took, I tried to bring the same approach that I learned from the tutors who helped me, which is encouraging students to ask questions to clarify any confusion and providing an interactive environment so that students are not afraid of asking questions. Of course, these methods could be applied to learning to code. I will make sure that students are hands-on with the code as well as understand the code they are writing.

I have 5 years of experience developing software for a space and energy company. During these 5 years, I have built various data-intensive applications and mentored many junior/intern developers who are new to the team. Additionally, I enjoy teaching and have two years of tutoring experience at UC Santa Cruz, where I helped college students with their STEM subjects after class. Currently, I have also started working with an after-school program where I teach kids ages between 7-14 STEM subjects.
